Wrongful death claim may follow Navy vet's fatal crash

A Navy vet who served from 2003 through 2007 lost his life in a tragic accident in Florida on a recent Sunday evening. His wife said she was puzzled about the fact that he appeared to have died on impact while she suffered no more than a few bruises. This crash followed the failure of another driver to yield, and a wrongful death claim may follow.

According to an accident report, three vehicles were involved in the crash that occurred shortly after 8 p.m. on State Road 52. The surviving wife says they were heading west on their way home from vacation when they witnessed a collision between two pickup trucks. Reportedly, a 34-year-old man entered SR 52 without yielding and put his vehicle directly into the path of an eastbound pickup truck.

Florida Highway Patrol says the impact sent the eastbound truck careening across the road. While the westbound couple was still watching this unfold, the spinning truck was suddenly in their path, making it impossible to avoid crashing into it. The 33-year-old Navy vet died at the crash scene, but both of the other drivers were uninjured. FHP says although alcohol impairment is not suspected, charges might follow.

Others in similar situations as the 30-year-old wife of this man have chosen to seek financial relief by filing wrongful death lawsuits in a Florida civil court. Navigating such a claim can be challenging, but the process can be simplified by retaining the services of an experienced wrongful death attorney. A lawyer can help with establishing negligence and also the presentation of the lawsuit. If the court can determine liability, a monetary judgment can be entered to cover economic and non-economic damages.
