Personal injury claims can follow boating accidents

Many people in Florida know what they have to do if they are involved in an automobile accident. However, they may not be too sure of the steps to take when they are involved in a boating accident. A personal injury suffered on the water is not uncommon, and in many cases, boating or jet ski accidents are caused by the negligence of other boat operators.

Personal injury lawsuit may follow injury at North Florida Fair

On Saturday, Nov. 4, a Tallahassee girl suffered injuries after being thrown from the 'Musik Express,' a North Florida Fair ride. Similar accidents in other states have led to personal injury lawsuits, which might also happen in this case. The general manager of the mobile fair company said the ride was shut down after the incident but reopened the next morning after an inspection, the results of which were not mentioned. The inspection was done by the state Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.

Personal injury lawsuits come in different types

All kinds of injuries and accidents lead to the staggering number of claims in civil lawsuits that are filed in Florida and other states annually. Anybody who is suffering the consequences of injuries caused by another person's negligence might have grounds for filing a personal injury lawsuit. Of all the different types of personal injury claims, product liability is one of the most common.

Personal injury: 1 in 4 fatal teenage crashes involves alcohol

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that over 3,500 teenagers died in auto crashes in 2016. Accordingly, the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles held a week-long campaign earlier this month to promote safe teen driving. The aim was to get teens to commit to driving in a way that will keep themselves and their passengers safe from personal injury. Along with personal responsibility, the focus was on never starting the car before everybody is buckled up.

Personal Injury: Proving negligence can be challenging

Thousands of people in Florida suffer slip-and-fall injuries every year, often caused by the negligence of property owners. However,  premises owners or their tenants are not always liable for a personal injury suffered in such circumstances. In fact, proving negligence in premises liability lawsuits can be tricky.

Personal injury lawsuit filed against American Airlines

Property owners have a duty to take reasonable measures to prevent visitors from suffering injuries. Whenever a person in Florida or another state is hurt on the property of another party, he or she may be able to pursue recovery of damages if the appropriate evidence establishes negligence. Such personal injury claims can even arise from events in which harm was done to passengers of public transit systems and airlines.

Your status crucial in premises liability claims

Too many people make the mistake of oversimplifying legal claims. For instance, it is easy to assume that if you get hurt on someone’s property, you can file a lawsuit against the property owner. While this may certainly be possible, there are a number of legal nuances that you must consider before you can accurately understand your legal options.

'Textalyzer' could change distracted driving behaviors

If you get into an accident caused by a driver who was texting behind the wheel, it could be weeks or months until you learn for sure that the other driver was texting because of the legal processes involved in getting phone records. In the future, however, this information could be available in a matter of seconds.

Abuse or neglect in nursing homes can spark wrongful death claims

Florida has long been considered a desirable destination for people in their golden years looking to relax and stay warm year-round. Whether people move here after retiring or they have always lived here, they should be able to enjoy life and make the most out of this stage of life.
