What To Do If Bitten By A Dog

Nearly five MILLION people are bitten by dogs every year in the United States.

Most victims who seek medical attention are kids. Whether it happens to you or your child – it can be terrifying.

“It’s frightening to be bitten or attacked by a dog. Make sure you are taken care of medically, stop the bleeding and go to the emergency room.”

Personal Injury attorney Cameron D Simpson says dog owners have legal obligations to control their animals at all times, regardless if they are considered vicious or not.

“I would recommend contacting an attorney immediately because there are some situations where the animal is insured and you can obtain compensation for your pain and medical expenses.”

However, if negligence by the dog bite victim can be shown, the liability of the owner is diminished. For example, the owner has a “Bad Dog” sign displayed on the fence to the back yard but the person enters anyway and is bitten. The only exception to this law is if the victim is a child under six years old.
